William ‘the carpenter’ Hilliard, Sr. Is referenced in The Great Migration Begins so will start there.

Anderson, Robert Charles. The Great Migration, Immigrants to New England, 1634-1635, Vol. 3, G-H (Boston: New England Historic Genealogical Society, 1999), images of pp. 329-30 by subscription AmericanAncestors.org. https://www.americanancestors.org/databases/great-migration-immigra...

Anthony of Hingham had been disconnected from Nicholas Hilliard who seems to be the man discussed here:

There was also a Stillborn Child buried 27 Dec 1584, same Church, Father NICHOLAS

f they had a Son Anthony born c 1585 Arundel Castle, Sussex, it is possible the Mother Alice was visiting or had a connection through her Family.

Continuing quote:

Shipping Record;
Wm Hillard, 21, Occp Carpenter on the Elizabeth & Anne, 1635

May I ask how this William was linked back to the the other Hilliards mentioned?

his link seems to refer to William the carpenter.

Nothing definite on his family and no mention of father. The passenger list has no obvious family members coming over with him either.

Anne Brannen Might find the Arundel Castle info of interest, but I’m removing it from Anthony of Hingham MA and William the carpenter.

I have been trying to sort out this William Hilliard after not looking at what info I had for many years. Originally Robert Anderson in his sketch of William Hilliard, (https://www.americanancestors.org/databases/great-migration-immigra...) stated his belief that there were two William Hilliards in the colonies simultaneously in the mid 1600s. He later related his change of mind on this in the Great Migration Newsletter, V.1-25
Great Migration Newsletter, V.1-20. https://www.americanancestors.org/DB1567/i/21156/29/426834293, indicating that he felt there was in fact only one man. I had communicated with Victor Grant Hillard, who authored an article about this [MD 49:95-98] via email in 2003 in which he expressed his strong opinion that there was only one William Hilliard. Perhaps he was able to eventually able to convince Mr. Anderson?

Cross referencing the discussion:

Which is about the Virginia Hilliard family.

The two lines likely have nothing to do with each other except name coincidence.
