Aggie Owl (or possibly Howell, Howle, Howl, or Ogle) was the wife of Moses Damron.

Anecdotal family tradition states that Aggie was Cherokee Indian, either full or half-blood. However, there does not appear to be any documented evidence to support this claim. Recent mitochondrial DNA evidence suggests Aggie was predominantly European (Haplogroup H). There is not even enough evidence that Aggie's maiden name was actually Owl. Based on residents of the area, it was more likely Howl/Howle or Ogle.

Aggie's name was reported to be Aggie or Aggy Owl in a biographical sketch of a grandson, Samuel Damron, Sr., in themtdna is daughter to mom on back and H2 is Roma and seen commonly in Eastern Siouan maternal lines. CEREDO ADVANCE, Ceredo, WV, 1 April 1896. Genealogical researches have not located a family with that surname in the area where she lived but did find the name Ogle. There was a Howl family although that may have been a misspelling of Howell. It is also possible that the name could have been Yowell. This record will recognize Owl as her surname until proof of it being something else appears. There are those that claim that she was Cherokee but offer no evidence. Her parents have yet to be identified.
