About Marie-Anne Boudreau
Corrects made to this profile
1- She was known by Anne. It was common for girls to have as a first name Marie but their given name was typically their second or third or last their given names. To avoid confusion, her first name was changed to Marie Anne
2- Women living under the French Civil Code do not adopt their husband's names when they marry. There is a difference between a title and a legal name. In Anne's case, she might have been called socially Mme. Arsenault but her name was still Marie Anne Broudrot. All legal documents (i.e baptismal records, marriage records, notary records, burial records), she would have been listed Anne Broudrot. Anne Arsenault married to Pierre Arsenault is incorrect.
3- The spelling of her last name varies. Boudrot is used by Bona Arsenault in the bible of Acadian genealogy. The two variations of the name sound the same, in French.
4- The spelling of the place names has been changed to the French. The British called the area Nova Scotia but the area was under French rule at the time.
