Pierre Arseneault, Marguerite Doucet, Abraham Arseneault, Marguerite Marie Dugas
Marianne Lyons Dagher stated:
"If Margeurite Doucet is his mother then he married his half sister. I think Pierre had other parents. Still working."
Jan Boleslaw Kowza stated:
"I did not research this info. I entered a family tree that I discovered in my French/Canadian father-in-law's records after he had passed away. If you can find evidence that it is incorrect, I have no objection to making the correction.
After making entries as far as the 1700's, the system linked me to the earlier ancestors."
Private User stated:
"I doubt he's her half brother. I looked all over the net for proof and found some people with the same question and the same copy/paste family trees.
This site: http://www.islandregister.com/arsenault1.html
has him as the first ancestor for his lineage thus far.
This site: http://www.acadian-roots.com/congres94.html
has news articles, and in the Arsenault one, has no mention of any parents for him, but does list his wife's parents.
I think it's safe to remove him from the parents and ask a curator to add a note above it, explaining why."
Note that there were two other siblings of Pierre listed under Abraham Arseneault, Claude Dugas & Françoise Arseneault. These were added by Murielle Cyr & Marianne Lyons Dagher. So this should get further investigation as there seems to be a family unit build around Abraham.
I'll note that I have seen similar marriage relationship. My 3rd GGF from Quebec married his step-sister.
As for Abraham Arseneault...
I Googled his name with his wife's name, and found out of about 10 family trees, only one had undocumented set of parents for him. He ALSO seems to be a progenitor of his lineage in the Americas.
http://familytreemaker.genealogy.com/users/w/o/s/Ken-Wosnig/WEBSITE... This tree starts with him
http://www.ourfamtree.org/browse.cfm/Abraham-Arsenault/p441348 This tree starts with him
http://pellelarchgen.com/d0011/g0000025.html This tree starts with him
http://freepages.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~kmills/narrative/b22.html#P294 This tree has parents, but is not documented and not done well, says he died in Los Angeles, California! LOL
http://genforum.genealogy.com/arsenault/messages/1592.html This discussion is asking if he has any known ancestors
http://myweb.unomaha.edu/~michaelmatthews/Hubbard_Morisseau_Book_Pr... This tree starts with him.
So, I think we're safe in removing ancestry from him and adding a curator note on top, Jeff. :)
Interestingly, about Claude Arseneault. When I googled his name and birth/death dates as I have here: https://www.google.com/search?q=claude+arseneault+1652+1732&aq=... All I get with the exact info comes from Geni.com. I get nothing for him.
There is a Claude Dugas on Geni and other websites with the same birth and death date. He's also listed as a half brother of Claude Arseneault. Hmmm? :)
Hello Everyone, can this French Acadian site help out here? Records show that Her full name was Marguerite Louise Doucet & it lists her parents. She married Abraham Arsenau 1st & had one son: Pierre Arsenau. Then she married Abraham Dugas & had 8 children with him. Please ck this French Acadian site: http://www.genealogie-acadienne.net/?action=indiDetails&I=1558 Maybe Leandre Maillet, who runs it can help?
Jeff,
So the information on this website is inaccurate? http://hall-of-acadie.org/familychart.php?personID=I91665616&tr...
Here is a pretty reliable site. He compile and sells DVD of Acadia genealogy. If there was a link, he'd list it.
