There is confusion about Gerrit Jansen and his son Guert Gerrits.

Gerrit Jansen marr.1) Unknown
Gerrit Jansen marr. 2) as widower (wife not named) Pietertje Heertjes
The couple made a pre nuptial contract 15 Aug. 1654 (NYGBS record. v. 120 1989)
Pietertje was widow of Claes Jacobsen and had a son Dirck Claesen
Gerrit had children (not named) the contract assured that children will receive their inheritance form their parent.
In September 1655 we have record of "3 children of Corporal Gerrit Jansen van Steenwyck" were removed to Staten Island (Hist. of NN v. 1 by E>B> O'Callaghan) because of the Indian attacks.
These children are likely Geesje Gerrits, brother Guert Gerrits and one unknown child.
Jannetje Gerrits is probably a half sister as she was already married in 1652 (NA DRC)

Guert Gerrits van Zutphen marr. (he later used Steenwyck) marr. 10 Oct. 1664 Lysbeth Cornelis widow Hendricksen.
They had no children
Guert Gerrits and Lysbeth Cornelis make a mutual will in 1688 pr. 27 Apr. 1697 He mentions sister Jannetje Gerrits (her children) and Geesje Gerrits (her children) and a relative of Lysbeth Cornelis.

Lysbeth Cornelis marr. 1) Marcus Pieterse
Lysbeth Cornelis marr. 2) 2 Oct. 1659 "Gerrit" Hendricksen van Harderwyck
Gerrit Hendricksen van Harderwyck marr. 1) Ytie Jans and had children:
Otto Gerrits 1646, Jan Gerrits 1650 and Lysbeth Gerrits 1653 (these children are not "van Steenwyck" of course)

Jannetje Gerrits van Steenwyck marr. 31 Mar. 1652 Caspar Steynwits (NA DRC) He marr. 2) Tryntje Jacobs 15 Mr. 1671
Geesje Gerrits van Steenwyck marr. 14 Jan. 1666 Jan Dirksen Straetmaker
Jan Dirksen Straetmaker marr. 2) Neeltje Buys widow Jacob Vygoor 12 Jan. 1707 in Bergen (Bergen DRC)

So the confusion is that Gerrit Janszen van Steenwyck is not actually Lysbeth Cornelis' husband but her father-in-law?

And the two women shown as Lysbeth Cornelis' daughters are actually her sisters-in-law?

When this tree was originally created Gerrit Jansen van Steenwyck's wife's name was "Annetje Gerritse Hermansse" born 1635.

Which could be the first with you listed "Gerrit Jansen marr.1) Unknown"?

If we revert the profile to it's original name then give Gerrit a second wife with a son named "Guert Gerrits van Zutphen / Steenwyck" and give him a wife named "Lysbeth Cornelis".

Then we just need to swap Geesje Gerrits mother and build out the tree as per the rest of the details u listed above.

There is only ONE Lysbeth Cornlis documented as wife of Guert Gerrits van Steenwyck. The likely 1) wife of Gerrit Jansen van Steenwyck remains undocumented.
Where is the source for Annetje Gerritse Hermanse, haven't seen this.

Further more any first wife of Gerrit Jansen was born much earlier than 1635 because daughter Jannetje Gerits marr. in 1652

Good point about the dates, obviously i didn't look too closely.

There are no sources listed for any of these profiles, Annetje Gerritse Hermanse is what the profile's name was when it was created. I can tell this from the revisions tab but have no idea why or where it came from.

Aside from wife #1 do you agree with my suggested changes?

They will be quite easy to make but at this point i have one concern with proceeding, namely the uncertainty i feel regarding your sources.

Bergen DRC and NA DRC i realise are references to church records but i have no access to them so cannot check veracity.

NYGBS record. v. 120 1989 i assume is a periodical of some sort?

Hist. of NN v. 1 by E>B> O'Callaghan is obviously "History of New Netherland or, New York under the Dutch." By E. B. O'Callaghan. Published 1848 which is freely available at https://openlibrary.org/books/OL23304786M/History_of_New_Netherland

BUT i have searched the document for "attacks", "corporal", "Steenwyck", "Steenwijk" and "Gerrit Janse" as per your statement:

In September 1655 we have record of "3 children of Corporal Gerrit Jansen van Steenwyck" were removed to Staten Island because of the Indian attacks.

to no avail. Perhaps you could advise a page number? Otherwise your claims carry no more substance than those of the current profiles, so why should i make any effort to assist?

Hi
I was not aware of any given sources in the original post, my sources are always noted or available. I assume that researchers have a certain knowledge of finding and understanding resources but will gladly provide explanations

Bergen and New Amsterdam church records are well known collections available on line. (Go "Vital statistics by Robert L. Billard.. Ancestry.com")

NYGBS record v. 120 1989 is a well known publication (v.120 in 1989) of the New York Genealogical and Biographical Society.

History of New Netherland by E.B. O"Callaghan v. 1 shows the" Corporal Gerrit Jansen van Steenwyck" data on p. 291, which however I did not quote ithe full text
What changes you make is up to you, I was sharing my findings.

I did not state that the original posts were sourced, they are not and do not appear to ever have been, but obviously they have been sourced from somewhere rather than being random imaginings. An unlisted source is no worse than an unreliable one.

Thank you for expanding on your own references, i shall see how i go with locating them. Geni provides various methods for loading sources to a profile, generally listing them in a Discussion would probably be the least effective.

I took another look at O"Callaghan, in fact i read pages 288 thru 293 and found no mention of any Gerrit Jansen. Putting text in quotation marks and listing a document title by any standard implies that it is a direct quote, page 291 in fact details conflict with the Indians in 1644, a whole decade prior to the events you claim.
