Thank you! The profiles are now split, but you are correct. There appears to be some minor cleanup. For example, the marriages for the other profiles still appear in the timeline. That's something that should be easy to clean up though.

Thank you!

There is however something weird in that merge that should be checked by Geni staff. It tells that an unclaimed profile, Private, executed the merge, and make me suspect that we had a merge caused by trying to invite a person to the tree.

If the mail address entered already is used on another profile the profiles will be merged. Therefore, we don't know if Margaret Ann Saetveit, which apparently seem to be a halfway claimed profile is the one that owns that email. She should go into her account setting https://www.geni.com/account_settings/email_password to confirm the email and set a permanent password to ensure that it does not happen again.
Peter Lund, - As a Pro user you can raise a support ticked if you want this followed up by Geni staff.

You are correct. That is how the merge was mistakenly initiated. Private was accidentally given the same email address as Margaret Ann Saetveit.

I edited Private's profile and removed the email address. Is this sufficient to resolve the problem or should I still open a ticket?

No, you don't have to raise a support ticket if the email is on the correct profile now.
You are however listed as manager on Margaret Ann Saetveit, meaning that the profile is in what I call a halfway-claimed stage. - which could be a result of the wrong merge.
If she are unable to get out of that stage by setting a permanent password in https://www.geni.com/account_settings/email_password a support ticket is however needed.

Hi. I have 3 abandoned nodes on my tree that I'd like deleted please. These are Deve Vosawale Simpson, Milika Raikagaga, and Alex R ELLIOTT. The nodes belong to the parent Private and Celia Sislian Elliott. I'm on Basic Geni. Can someone advise on how I can cancel these please.
Susie

Attn: ERICA

Its a problem of cancelling the 3 nodes on my tree as they are now abandoned by their profilers. Can you help or could you show me how it can be done please. Useful for future reference if it comes up again. The nodes belong to Deve Vosawale Simpson, Milika Raikagaga, and Alex R ELLIOTT. All 3 belong to the parent combination: Privateand @Celia Sislian Elliott
Tks
Su

Those three are profiles that you added, then added an email address, and then they 'accepted' the invitation (i.e.: "claimed" the profile).

If they have forgotten their password, have them use the link for forgotten passwords at the Geni login to get it reset.

Thanx Dan. But takes too long. I don't think the password is the problem for these three profiles. They just ignore my requests repeatedly...hence the abandoned status. Just quicker if i could cancel and rebuild their tree from scratch. Can Geni, make me take over their profile please so i can get on with my life!

They haven't been "abandoned" that long, and haven't been members for that long either. If they were not connected to the World Tree it would be simple to ignore them - but they *are* connected now, and short of disconnecting them from parent(s), there's little to be done about it.

Try this: select Edit Profile, see if the "Relationships" tab is available. If it is, check the relationship(s) you want to break, click on "Remove", and then "Save & Close".

Hi Maven.
Tried that on Milika Raikagaga but either it's taking too long to happen, or its not happening like you suggested. Can't do Deve Vosawale Simpson as there is no edit button for him. HOWEVER, I note with delight, great delight actually, that Alex Elliott has been cancelled. Now if he didn't do it himself, who did. You guys?? if you did, thank you so much. Phew what a relief...one down and 2 to go. any other suggestions please.

Or wait till they have been off long enough to report as Abandoned / Abandoned Tree.

Seems very nasty for person1 to cut person2 off from where person2 belongs, just because person1 has no patience. Is this really acceptable?

According to Geni, they joined Dec. 15, 2014; Dec. 22, 2014; and Jan. 1, 2015 -- so all about a month ago - ie very recently.

Why do you feel it is such a problem to have them sitting there, being non-responsive to you? In what way are they harming your Tree Building?

Lois - before you go making assumptions on this board, you need to remember, that there is a lot of behind-the-scenes, and personal stuff going on with tree members like myself inrelation to our families. There are feuds, which is not the business of curators to know or for me to comment on as its personal to my tree. That's my business. Your business, is to deal to the facts I present to you, not go off on a tangent about abandoned tree and what seems like my impatience with these 3 profiles here...

Lois - I resent your probing and please don't comment on my posts as its unhelpful to me.
Thanks.

Private User - you may well have legitimate reasons for wanting something done - you are right that I do not know about the family feuds or any other circumstances - and I apologize for apparently probing at issues you did not want probed at --

HOWEVER -

I think the suggestion Maven made here: https://www.geni.com/discussions/142108?msg=997541 - in the Public Discussion, for all to see - could well lead to what many might see as something very nasty (as I spelled out above, in 2nd paragraph in my first comment here today) -- which is why I questioned - and question - if her suggestion is really an acceptable suggestion for action to be taken with regard to claimed profiles.

Lois - point taken.
Thanks.

Private User our business is preserving the world tree for all its users, of which you are one (and have been for just over a month). It's only one tree. Everyone should be able to claim their place in it, and feel reasonably secure that they will not be arbitrarily disconnected.

If you have family problems, these need to be worked out in the family. Not on Geni.

How much does being a referee pay again? I'm sure better then my day job...

Harald. The issue has been raised its been settled. No thanks to you. I'm responsible for my tree and every node in it. With my family members support, I'm its architect. When members claim a place on the tree, they need to also to realize that being on the tree comes with its responsibilities. One of those is cooperation when mistakes are made, to be alongside to assist. Which was not the case in my situation.

Vinaka vakalevu.

Sadly, my cousin, from Barcelona, Joan Tosas, passed away on November 11th, 2015.
We shared the love of Genealogical researching and also, our ancestry, MyHeritage, el Mundo etc. sites, with each other, since 2011. (Yes, he even shared his El Mundo log in, with me, so we could collaborate there, too.)
Even our Facebook Family Group, since his passing, is dedicated in his name.
"Tosas/Tossas Family in memory of Joan Tosas Rius"
I wish to request, that his Geni profile and the few he added here, (as he was most extensively working on our shared El Mundo & MyHeritage, trees)
kindly be transferred to my Geni account/management.
Here is the link, to his Geni profile.
Joan Tosas Rius

Thanking you in advance, for your care and consideration, in this matter.
Theresa Renée

He hadn't added anyone, but himself, here, I see now.
So, it would simply be, his "stand alone" profile, in question,

I would like to eventually, connect him, to his ancestor Sebastian Tosas Puig, who is the brother of my ancestor Bonaventura / Buenaventura Tosas Puig, and therefore, would not ever, wish his profile, to simply be erased.

http://www.geni.com/people/Theresa-Ren%25C3%25A9e-El%25C3%25A9na-De...

I've reported him as deceased to Geni Customer Support via the actions > report menu. However as a standalone (un connected tree) profile, once released as a deceased / public profile, he will still need a "connect" point to the world tree.

I'm hoping in honor of his legacy you'll be able to find one. It sounds like he was very special.

Theresa Renée Eléna Tossas-Cox - If by any chance he had shared his Geni login info/password with you - and Customer Support has not yet marked as unclaimed - then you can log in and connected him to the World Tree, and then closed his account with reason being "deceased" -
However, if Customer Support has already marked him as unclaimed it is too late to do that - and I believe current rules would not allow him ever to be connected.

the power of editing -I changed tense one place, see left past tense others, so reads stupidly - apologize.

The reason I said would not be able to be connected if Theresa is unable to log on as him and get him connected is -- If he is really a singleton stand-alone, there would be noone connected to approve a merge to the World Tree - and Stand-Alone Trees can only be connected if someone in the Stand-Alone Tree approves the merge. ----- Unless rules have changed?

Lois has the point, I would've made. No, I unfortunately, do not have his Geni login. (unless, possibly, he used the same one as on El Mundo, but I will have to check that. And the point would be moot, if the profile has already been reported, that would no longer matter.)

But Erica, YES, I do have his lines down, from Sebastian Tosas Puig and could fill them in. It's more for the sentimental value, that it was he himself, who joined Geni and set up his profile, as for any other purpose, as, as mentioned, he did not add anything else here... for which i would like to keep the "original" and not have it deleted.
Will I be able to be added as the manager of his then, "public" profile, to link him up?
And yes... he was an extremely special person.

xoxoxoxoTheresa Renée

Theresa Renée Eléna Tossas-Cox -Erica says she has reported it - but it looks like they have not unclaimed it yet - try quickly.
