Under the medieval times in Scandinavia, women rarely took the husbands names and in order to make genealogy work we ought to not do that either. Because This creates Severe Problems when Merging profiles, they had theirs names, the husbands theirs and so it needs to be. Do not create more problems than necessary if any, it's enough with the ones that puts up people who were born in the 1500's as parents to people who lived in the 1400's, and the shit I and others have to take when trying to explain why it's impossible, and when it's come to me, at the same time being questioned like it's me who are the real idiot.
major probleme here
Jacques Moitié, dit Maugue
he got first child at age 5 second child at age 10 then decide to get married at age 12 another child age 14 and he die at 28
life past so fast.....
I am so sorry, curators, but this Oppenheimer family mess is way beyond my capabilities, and i am again coming to you for help:
Compare this, from http://www.thekesters.net/Genealogy/Florsheim.html -- which i believe to be substantially correct:
(1)
- Simon “Grump” FLORSHEIM (28 May 1837 - 17 December 1917, Chicago) & Elizabeth FREISLEBEN (26 December 1845, Upstate New York - )
Simon came to America at the age of 17. He set out to walk from New York to Chicago, doing odd jobs along the way. By Ohio, he had earned enough money to buy a train ticket for the rest of the way. Became owner of Kabo Corset Co. and President of Aurora Automatic Machinery Co.
... Flora (Dorley) FLORSHEIM (1863 - 1916) & Michael ALTMAN
...... Robert ALTMAN (1889 - about 1928) & Olga OPPENHEIMER
......... Flora Louise ALTMAN & Edward GOODKIND
............ Peggy GOODKIND & Stanton B. MILLER
............... Margaret (Maggy) MILLER (? - 2009)
............ Michael GOODKIND (1943 - ) & Marion HOM (1943 - )
............... Jeffrey C GOODKIND (1982 - )
............... Lauren Elaine GOODKIND (1983 - )
............... Barbara Emily GOODKIND (1983 - )
......... Jane ALTMAN & Robert LOGAN
............ Robert LOGAN
............ Paul LOGAN & Marie von KLEMPERER
............... William LOGAN (1983 - ) & Arti RANA
............... Katy LOGAN
............... Edith ALTMAN (? - 1976) & Jack STERN
...... Elizabeth STERN & Peter SPEIGEL
............ Martin SPEIGEL
............ Ellie SPEIGEL
with the genealogical data on the last page of this pdf, which i also believe to be substantially correct, and which does not contradict the above in any way:
(2)
"A Short Narrative History of S. Oppenheimer & Co. -- Its Rise To Eminence -- Its Fall From Grace" by Larence C. Strix, Jr.
https://jacullman.files.wordpress.com/2011/01/oppenheimer-casings.pdf
(stating that Robert Altman is the --> Son-In-Law <-- of Ludwig (Louis) Oppenheimer of Chicago.
And then compare THIS MESS:
(3)
Here, on Geni, we see the rather creepy tree in which Ludwig (Louis) Oppenheimer is married to his --> Daughter <-- Olga Oppenheimer Altman, and her actual huband, Robert M. Altman (son of Michael Altman and Flora Florsheim), is nowhere to be found.
Not only that, Robert and Olga's daughter Flora Louise is now listed as the daughter of Ludwig (Louis) Oppenheimer and Olga, while Robert and Olga's daughter Jane --> a FEMALE (who later married Mr. Logan) <-- has been transmuted into James, a MALE.
I am at a loss for how to fix it. I know it is very, very wrong, but i simply have not had the experience you folks have had at straightening these tangles out.
Great thanks and blessings to whoever solves this puzzle and sets the pieces right.

Would you add the other profiles
Angus Wood-Salomon -- Are you asking me to add Altmans? I will do so. I am concerned that all my Oppenheimer bio texts may get lost if you create now profiles for them -- e.g. for Henry (Harry) Oppenheimer -- and then delete the old ones. You wouldn't do that, would you? Just reassure me here, okay? You would port the data over, right? 'Cause right now there are two parallel trees, more or less.
Could someone please remove this extra set of parents - Capt. James Henderson Nancy Ann Henderson from Samuel Newton Henderson
Thanks!

I never delete profiles unless I created them and if I accidentally create a duplicate I will always merge.
Angus Wood-Salomon -- Thanks for explaining your careful way of working. I appreciate that greatly. having worked on shared databases with others, i get a little nervous sometimes!
I have now added out all of the Altmans, down to the present living family members.
As for further duplicates -- MY MISTAKE -- i was confusing there two similarly named men. They were cousins, born about 12 years apart.
Thank you again for all the hard work -- i hope that i have helped as well, by building out the younger generations. To my (not so) surpise, some of the people who married into this family in later years were also relations of mine via other trees. Small world.
Cleanup required - duplicate MP profiles:

I transfered the About me from one to the other so it wouldn't get lost ...would you mind reviewing it Thomas Wentworth, I

Thomas Wentworth, I seems to have been wrongly merged with Thomas Wentworth son of Agnes (Dronsfield) & Sir John Wentworth
His about section still includes information about the other Thomas who was born in 1400.
I will continue this in Thomas Wentworth, I#/tab/discussion
Hello,
I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask, but I am hoping someone can help me with a merger.
I am trying to merge Bruno Melcer with Bruno Melcer. I have requested a merge but I think the manager of the other Bruno Melcer may no longer be using Geni. Is there any other way the merger can be done, or do I have to hope the other manager comes back?
Thanks,
Francis
