https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jean-Pierre_Chouteau is an ancestor of https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yvonne_Chouteau who died a few days ago.
I intend to build tree UP and hope to meet collaborators building tree DOWN
Who would care to join me?
Thank you Erica! It turns out she is partly linked to my half brother's family from Louisiana, so quite interesting.
Yvonne Chouteau

The Chouteaus: First Family of the Fur Trade. Stan Hoig. UNM Press, Jun 8, 2010 - History - 352 pages
There's a genealogy on the last pages ! Fascinating. The 1809 marriage was witnessed by Lewis & Clark. Many of the men had French wives, and also native families (Osage).
Yvonne's great grandfather married Mary Silverheels of the Shawnee, and removed with them to Cherokee Nation West, Indian Territory, present day northeast Oklahoma. this group of Shawnee was adopted by the Cherokee, and added to the rolls. So they are called Shawnee-Cherokee.
I didn't write the book!
The family is very interesting. They are not actually Chouteau, that is the legal father's name. The actual father was Pierre Augustin Laclède
The sons had Osage wives in additions to their French wives.
Pierre's son Pierre Augustin Laclède?through=6000000010506604220 married a woman of the Shawnee, as did their son William Myers Chouteau
He removed with his wife's family to Cherokee territory in northeast Oklahama; the group of Shawnee (called "the Loyal Shawnee" for conflicting reasons) were adopted by the Cherokee, and then known as Shawnee-Cherokee. They have only recently become a separate group in government eyes again.
William Myer's son Edmond Chouteau was a blind musician & teacher, attracting students from all over the state. His wife, called grand mere, was a descendant of Lord del a Ware, founder of Baltimore.
Edmond's son Corbett Edward Chouteau was an Indian agent, his only child was Yvonne "the five moon.". She was blonde & blue eyed and a child star dancer on the pow wow circuit. She won a full scholarship to the American Ballet Theatre & was a particular protege of the great https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alexandra_Danilova
Yvonne married a fellow performer of the https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ballet_Russe_de_Monte_Carlo, Miguel Terekhov of Uraguay; his mother was native, & his father Ukrainian, who had once been a Russian ballet dancer.
Together Miguel & Yvonne founded the http://www.ou.edu/finearts/dance/ & the http://www.ou.edu/finearts/dance/
What a heritage & what a legacy.
It is very interesting....the article I initially sent about her passing caught my eye as she was Native American and a ballet dancer...like I said, I pretty much stumbled upon her name because I really only knew a little about the 5 Native American Prima Ballerinas. What a great little research project. =)
And that the family is linked Acadians and family from Louisiana. (well not directly)
well not directly, but the connection I shared earlier on the discussion has Joseph Carlos Roy dit Châtellerault and he is from Canada and ended up in Louisiana.
So we want to look at where the colors change in your path to Yvonne, that's when a new family enters the picture.
Yvonne Chouteau to Gen. Bernard Abadie Pratte, Sr.
(blue to brown)
Gen. Bernard Abadie Pratte, Sr. to Joseph Carlos Roy dit Châtellerault
(brown to green)
Note: the color choice is meaningless, it's just to show it's a line thru marriage
So of these, which line goes to Canada, and how does Canada reach Louisiana (if it does)
Perhaps M Anderson Private User would like to join us
and morel in finding out if there is a link to the Acadians and Canada ?
I have been helping a high school friend who is related to the Palmers part of the Chouteau family, and we would be happy to help.

Private User any help she can offer would be great I think. Erica Howton someone with a family link!
Yvonne Chouteau is Thomas Ware's second great granddaughter.
http://www.geni.com/path/Thomas-Ware+is+related+to+Yvonne-Chouteau?...
Thomas Ware was a private in the American Revolutionary War. The Five Moon could have been a DAR.
His wife was a "Rock Creek" Bryant, of anyone wants to find her family.
https://sites.google.com/site/bryantsofrockislandcreek/john-bryant-...
There is a relationship to a VP of the USA

The talk page on Wiki:

http://www.vpcharlescurtis.net/ksstudies/ccfamily.html
Curtis's mother was Ellen Pappan (born 1870).
Ellen Pappan's parents were Julie Gonville (born 1811) and Louis Pappan (born 1815).
Julie Gonville's parents were Louis Gonville (born 1804? [sic]) and Wy-He-See (born about 1798). Louis Gonville is described as "from Canada... mother is Potawatomie".
Wy-He-See was the daughter of White Plume and Me-Na. White Plume was a Kansa, aka Kaw; Me-Na was an Osage, related to Chief White Hair.
