Ruth Drew (Delano) - No Known Children

Oh boy, that needs cleanup.

According to Churchill Family of America, Samuel Drew 1st married Lydia (unknown). so that's a start point.

This article in the NEGHR disagrees that Ruth (Delano) Drew had no children, but does not mention a daughter Rebecca (Drew) Gilbert, either. Nor does any other source I'm locating.

... And that would be because Rebecca was the daughter of JOHN not Samuel Drew. I've moved her over to the correct parents & am adding her first husband (etc). Her parents were scandalous & she was probably born out of wedlock, so I don't know what you'll be able to find for birth records & under what name. The source & notes seem reliable but do try & firm it up with vital records.

Thanks for your help. Proving the link between Rebecca/Rebeckah Gilbert (Drew) and Sarah Delano & John Drew Sr. seems to be my direct link to John Alden and the Mayflower. Looks like its going to be a tough one. If she was born out of wedlock would that exclude her from the official Mayflower silver books? Any particular reason to believe her parents were scandalous? In this scenario what kind of documentation would there be?

John DREW b. 1651 Black River, Dover, Strafford Co., NH, son of William Drew and Elizabeth MATTHEWS married 1st c1675 to Sarah FIELD. She was born c. 1650 and a daug. of Darby Field. John Drew led quite a scandalous lifestyle for the time. He was married to Sarah but kept Rebecca Cook his mistress across town in a house he bought for her. She was Waaaay younger than he, but he was having babies with her While he was married to Sarah, thus you will notice the birth dates of his children with her Before their marriage date. There is quite a lot of info on his behaviour in Dover history. John Drew b. 1651 d. Oct. 1723 at abt. age 72 yrs. old. As you can see by comparing the dates, he was Still fathering children into his 70's.

I am back at this profile again. Wondering it we know any additional information about this Rebekah. Do we know she moved to Kingston, MA? Marriage records to Benjamin Gilbert refer to her as Rebeckah of Kingston.
