I'm afraid the line leading back from the le Roux family to Francois I of France is definitely false..There is plenty of evidence to show that Francois I would've have been far too young to sire an illegitimate child, so that descent is defintely out I'm afraid..In fact of all the possible links back to royalty, that one is the least likely of all!..Sorry.

Can you put the line please ?

I had a look Jessica, & it seems that connection has now been severed..ie the line to Francois I..It still exists as a link on this site, so not updated yet..

Jean le Roux, SV/PROG 1 and his 2nd cousin Gabriel le Roux, SV/PROG 2 were 'as close as brothers', and are descendants of, amongst others:
François I de Valois, roi de France (1494-1547), considered to be the first Renaissance King of France

Since he was born year 1681 there should be church records forJean

Which illegitimate son were they supposed to go through, Danielle?

In france, jewish names like isaac were given another too, more catholic soundex. So the father could be both isaac and the other name, it is normal. It still exists today for jews.

You have to take into consideration that not all nobles were christian by birth.

Could well be.
He doesn't appear to be noble, though - from what Danielle says.

Sharon, that line from Francois 1, which has now been cut, did go : Francois 1 Roi de France (Born 1494).Son: Henry de la Rieux DOB 1502..Son Bertolet La Rue 1525 - Jehan le Roux 1565 - Jean le Roux 1593 - Pierre le Roux 1632 - Jean le Roux 1667...Now apart from all the surname changes, spelling-wise.(.This did not happen in France, unlike SA.) They are clearly different surnames .Henry de la Rieux, the putative son of Francois 1, was born in 1502..Now as Francois 1 was born in 1494, that would make him 8 years old when Henry de la Rieux was born..So even leaving aside the descent line onwards, it would have been pretty impossible for Henry de la Rieux to be the son of Francois 1.. As I mentioned before this line has now been cut, so really cannot remain on the SA families descended from Royalty..

Very interesting. Thank you.
I did move him to the exploded myths section of the project.

Henry de La Rieux Curator Note from Angus Wood-Salomon (24/7/2017):This is highly speculative bordering on being false..I have disconnected him from Francis I of France until further sources are found.

enri de la Rue is thought to be the alleged out-of-wedlock issue of François I de Valois, King of France, and Daughter de la Rue. But the validity of François I as his father is under fire, as François would have been 8 years old at the time of Henri's birth.

If there is any validity or connection to a royal father, it would have most likely have been Louis XII of France. Louis XII was born 27 June 1462. He died 1 January 1515 at the age of 52.

In 1476, Louis XI forced Louis (his second cousin) to marry his daughter Joan of France. The son of Louis XI, Charles VIII, succeeded to the throne of France in 1483, but died childless in 1498, whereupon the throne passed to Louis XII. Charles had been married to Anne, Duchess of Brittany in order to unite the quasi-sovereign Duchy of Brittany with the Kingdom of France. To sustain this union, Louis XII had his marriage to Joan annulled (December 1498) after he became king so that he could marry Charles VIII's widow, Anne of Brittany.

During the marriage Anne was pregnant nine times.

Name Birth Death Notes Claude of France 14 October 1499 20 July 1524 married Francis I of France on 18 May 1514 Unnamed son 1500 1500 stillborn Unnamed son 21 January 1503 21 January 1503 stillborn miscarriage by the end of 1503 by the end on 1503 some sources cited miscarriage 1505 1505 Unnamed son 21 January 1508 21 January 1508 stillborn; some sources cited this was a miscarriage miscarriage 1509 1509 some sources cited Renée of France 25 October 1510 12 June 1574 married Ercole II d'Este in April 1528 Unnamed son 21 January 1512 21 January 1512 stillborn

Louis XII had an illegitimate son, Michel Bucy, Archbishop of Bourges, born 1485 or 1489, died 11 Feb. 1511. The only reference to his mother is that she was " a woman of the people".

Given Henri's year of birth, 1502, Louis XII would seem more a likely candidate for a royal father.

@Bertolet Le Roux (Louroux), the one who everyone keeps saying died in the Mannheim area was from Belgium. I have the book, in French from the Royal Society of Verviers Archives.
