Yes, I am the same as you. I bought "The Royal Line of Succession" at the shop at Windsor Castle when my wife and I were there in 1977. That was the Queen's 25th year celebration. The Succession book has the name of "Elgiva"(Elfgifu) as the daughter of Ethelred II the Unready and marrying Uhtred the Bold. I liked discovering her because I had found out that the earliest members of my Singleton family had descended from the Singletons of Northumbria. The family then carried on with the name in Lancashire and a few Singletons went over to Ireland at the urging of the Kings in the 1600's to populate English families there. Lately I have found 20 different family lines going up to Uhtred through my ancestors and about 6 of them go through Gospatric, Earl of Dunbar. The main one is through my Stewart family line coming from Robert I and II. Robert II on the male side goes up through the Steward family to the House of Huntingdon which comes from Waltheof of Huntingdon who was gt.grand son of Uhtred by his second wife. I have about 14 lines which go to Uhtred through him and all those go up to Charlemagne also because Waltheof married Judith of Lens, daughter of the Count of Lens whose ancestry goes to Charlemagne through the House of Boulogne. I have not been able to prove consecutive male Singleton descent by name all the way to Uhtred and Elfgifu since we have some blank spaces in the 1500 and 1600's. However my grandparents on my mother's side were named Brewer/Braose of England and Blossom coming from Stewart, Dunham, and Talbot to name a few who lead up to Bruce, Gospatric, and Waltheof of Huntingdon along with all the Kings leading up to Edward III. Plus I have so far found lines coming from another 40 different families of Normandy origin. But Uhtred and Elfgifu were my first ancestral love.
