The profile of Benjamin Allen (Benjamin Allen) lists a wife Mary Akin and two sons Thomas Allen. One Thomas (Private) is listed as born on 1742, child of Benjamin and Mary, but Thomas Allen son of Benjamin and Waitstill (Bowerman) Allen was born in Falmouth on 7 Aug 1732, and mentioned in several deeds for Benjamin and Thomas in Dartmouth (for example: Joseph Smith of Dartmouth yeoman, for £660, to Benjamin Allen Sr., Benjamin Allen Jr. & Thomas Allen all of same yeomen, 200 acres greater part of homestead farm where "I" lived on given by my father Elisha Smith, formerly his homestead, ½ sold to Benjamin Sr., other ½ to Benjamin Jr. & Thomas, wife Elizabeth Smith relinquishes right, dated 20 May 1767, Joseph ack. 7 Jun 1770, recorded 30 Apr 1773 [Bristol Co. Deeds, Southern District, New Bedford, film 0577213, v. 9, p. 327-328]). Thomas Allen of Dartmouth was also mentioned in Benjamin's will in 1775 in Dartmouth.
(Capt.) Thomas Allen, who was born in New Bedford, Bristol, MA, on 5 Jan 1742, was the son of Prince and Deborah (Butler) Allen, and died 17 Jul 1831 in Easton, Washington Co., NY. Thomas m. 1) Lusanna Lucy Baker in about 1774; 2) Judith Kirby, 2 May 1792, Dartmouth, Bristol Co., MA; and 3) Susanna Briggs, aft 1797, possibly in Easton, Washington Co., NY. The will of Thomas Allen of Easton was dated 14 Jan 1813, probated 28 Jul 1834, and mentions his wife Susanna Allen, and children son James Harvey Allen, daughter Silverster Sherman, son Ebenezer Allen, son George Allen, son Stephen Allen, and daughter Mary Fish, Susannah Allen and James Harvey Allen both of Easton executors [Wills, Washington Co., NY, v. B2, 1834-1845, p. 5-7, Family History Library, film 513864 item 1]. The General Minutes of Washington Co., NY, 1833-1836, p. 241, 7 Jul 1834, states that he departed at his residence in Easton on the 17 Jun 1831 [Family History Library, film 513887].
Unfortunately, there were several Benjamin and Thomas Allens in the region of Dartmouth, MA, (Dartmouth, New Bedford and Westport) in the late 1700’s to 1800’s, and it is not yet clear which Benjamin and Thomas are the sons of Benjamin and Waitstill Allen. There is no evidence that Benjamin Allen of Falmouth and Dartmouth, MA, had a wife Mary Akin.

Thomas m. 1) Lusanna Lucy Baker (no profile found in Geni) in about 1774;
2) Judith Kirby Judith Allen, 2 May 1792, Dartmouth, Bristol Co., MA; and
3) Susanna Briggs (no profile found in Geni), aft 1797, possibly in Easton, Washington Co., NY.
Richardson, would it be worth it to add some of those profiles to Geni?
There is already a profile for Thomas Allen (Thomas Allen), but it is not complete. This other profile shows his correct line to his parents, Prince & Deborah Allen (Butler) (Prince Allen). Captain Thomas Allen's history is well documented
I would suggest moving and merging the profile(s) of Thomas in the profile of Benjamin to the profile of Thomas son of Prince. I can add some more detail for the profile once the profiles are merged, including adding his three wives if necessary. Send me a link to the profile when you are done, and I'll try to clean it up. Taking off for Thanksgiving on Monday, so I might have to do the work after that.
Going through the records for Thomas Allen, there are two Thomas Allens in Dartmouth of about the same age:
1) marriage of Thomas Allen and Lusannah [int. Lucy] Barker, both of D., Nov. 29, 1770 [Susannah], and
2) marriage of Thomas Allen of Dartmouth, s. Prince, and Ruth Almy of Dartmouth, intention May 16, 1772.
Thomas 1) and his wife Lucy had 6 children born in Dartmouth, MA, and the only difference between the births and the will of Capt. Thomas Allen of Easton, NY, is a son John in the births, and a son James Harvey Allen in the will.
The will of Thomas Allen of Easton was dated 14 Jan 1813, probated 28 Jul 1834, and mentions his wife Susanna Allen, and children son James Harvey Allen, daughter Silverster Sherman, son Ebenezer Allen, son George Allen, son Stephen Allen, and daughter Mary Fish, Susannah Allen and James Harvey Allen both of Easton executors [Wills, Washington Co., NY, v. B2, 1834-1845, p. 5-7, Family History Library, film 513864 item 1]. The General Minutes of Washington Co., NY, 1833-1836, p. 241, 7 Jul 1834, states that he departed at his residence in Easton on the 17 Jun 1831 [Family History Library, film 513887]
Another source (J.K. Allen on George Allen, p. 144), says that Thomas Allen 1) was the son of Benjamin Allen (Thomas5, Benjamin4, John3, Ralph2, George1), and called Capt.Thomas Allen.
There is also the marriage of Thomas Allen [int. Capt.] and Susanna Briggs, both of Dartmouth, Jan. 14, 1798. This might be Thomas 1), and matches the name of his wife in the will of Capt. Thomas Allen of Easton, NY.
Thomas 2) married: Thomas Allen of Dartmouth, s. Prince, and Ruth Almy of Dartmouth, int. May 16, 1772; Thomas Allen, s. Prince dec'd and Deborah of Dartmouth, and Judith Kerby, d. Silas dec 'd and Elisabeth, 2d, 5 mo. 1792. I haven't found any children for Thomas 2). The same source (J.K. Allen on George Allen, p. 166), says that Thomas 2) was the son of Prince Allen (Thomas6, Prince5, James4, Ebenezer3, Ralph2, George1). J.K. Allen shows both of the marriages of Thomas 2).
So appears that the profile of Thomas Allen (Thomas Allen) actually includes data from two Thomas Allens: Capt. Thomas Allen son of Benjamin Allen, and Thomas Allen son of Prince Allen.
Based on this data, I will try to separate the two families and get back to you, probably a couple weeks from now.
Well, Thomas Allen son of Prince Allen died in Dartmouth on 4 Apr 1821, at the age of 78 [New-Bedford Mercury, Friday, Apr 6, 1821, New Bedford, MA, Vol: XIV, Issue: 38, Page: 3, died on Wednesday morning]. His probate shows that he didn't have a wife or any children when he died, and his estate was divided to the children of his brothers James Allen (d. 1820) and Obadiah Allen (d. 1801), and his sisters Elisabeth Rogers, Edy Russell, Lucy Howland and Mary Howland. Prince Allen also had a daughter Hannah Allen, but it appears that she died when she was young.
So the children of Thomas Allen must be the children of Capt. Thomas Allen of Dartmouth, MA, and Easton, NY. I want to find some proof that Capt. Allen was the son of Benjamin Allen. Thomas son of Benjamin Allen was born in Falmouth, MA on 7 Aug 1732. The grave of Capt. Thomas Allen in Easton, NY, shows that he was born on 5 Jan 1742 in Bristol Co., MA (https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/40787024), which matches the birth of Thomas Allen son of Prince and Deborah Allen in the VRs of Dartmouth, but the grave does not show when Thomas was born. So more work is needed!
Would it be helpful if I undid the merge on the two Thomas Allen profiles.

I don't think that I'm ready to move the children of Capt. Thomas Allen. The death of Thomas Allen son of Prince is listed as 1821, age 78, so born in about 1743, close to the birth of Thomas in the Dartmouth VRs (5 Jan 1742/3). The problem is the age of Capt. Thomas Allen of Easton. In the grave in Easton, Thomas's age is covered (https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/40787024). There is another grave in Schaghticoke, Rensselaer Co., NY which shows his birth, but it is clear that this is a later monument (https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/77187297). So I don't trust the births for these two graves.in the findagrave site. I need to look at the original Easton VRs to see if it lists his age, but I don't have time until I'm back.
I also need to look at the records for Thomas. A Capt. Thomas Allen put an ad in the newpapers in 1795, trying to sell land in Dartmouth. I need to compare the land in the ad with the land that Benjamin left to his son Thomas in his will in 1775. If they match, then it might prove that Capt. Thomas is the son of Benjamin.
Thomas son of Benjamin was born about 10 years earlier (1732) than Thomas son of Prince (1742), but Capt. Thomas died about 10 years later (1831 instead of 1821). This would suggest that Capt. Thomas Allen was about 98-99 years old if he was born in 1732 and died in 1831! So it is also possible that Capt. Thomas was from another family. If so, what family???
