Does anyone have any information or documents proving the parents of John Upton (1625-1699) who was married to Eleanor Stewart?

The reason I am asking is because I have been researching John Upton (1625-1699) who was married to Eleanor Stewart (Stuart). The information that I have found is that John Upton was a Scottish Prisoner of War from the Battle of Dunbar.

Below are some sources that I have found regarding John Upton:

The Scots at Hammersmith by Stephen P. Carlson
This is a 16 page pamphlet that you can get when you visit the historical site of Hammersmith aka Saugus Iron Works .
John Rupton (Upton) appears in this pamphlet as those known to have been at Hammersmith. Many of the workers at Hammersmith during this time were indentured servants.

Some of the Scottish prisoners that were shipped over to the colonies on the ship Unity arrived in Charlestown in Dec. 1650. There were sold are indentured servants to Hammersmith or the Great Works mill (owned by Valentine Hill).

Listed as a Definite Scottish Prisoner of War that was sent over from England on the ship Unity.

It would be great to find documents proving John Upton's parents.

Respectfully,

Thank you for your notes. I suspect we don’t have proof of parents ....

The merger just off of the Sterns caused a few problems - one, in particular, brought in a daughter born 1658 in John Upton of ScotlandJohn Upton, of Scotland . I can't tell when she was brought into the lineage at this point. We need these MP'd and Locked up they lead to well-documented lineage.

Really, no one should be merging in this era without a curator, not to mention this lineage, it's a difficult one.

I see no evidence supporting him as child of William Upton, Sr & Amye Emma Upton

Disconnected & locked relationships. Will review children next.

Two sources so far:

Upton family records : being genealogical collections for an Upton family history. by Upton, William Henry, b. 1854. Page 139. [https://archive.org/details/uptonfamilyrecor00upto/page/n162/mode/1up Archive.Org]

I uploaded the link to and copy of the book - should be able to review children from there. The book seems like a good source, it has the land deeds, probated wills, etc.

Yes, this seems a well studied family. Shouldn’t be much to blow the dust off. Famous last words.
