All the 100 year old books said that they lived in Ashford, Kent, England. (Chester of Chicheley) by Waters. You have listed 17 children, I disagree with the number of Children: Thomas, Jeremiah, Richard died young, John b. 1631, Stephen b. 1634, Joseph, Rebecca b. 1642, Increase b. 1643, Benjamine b. 1646.

Kay Osborn Indeed 22 children are not likely. Thank you for posting the child list. There’s a lot of profile merging needed in this area so it will take a while to complete. But it’s begun.

Jerome Michael Wilson May I ask what evidence supports Thomas Osborne & Wilmeth Osborne as parents of Jeremy Osborne besides the old Ancestral File?

And any help cleaning up around the family of him and Joan Osborne much appreciated.

And do you agree that Rebecca was a daughter and with this?

“ After they arrived in Connecticut, the Osborns had three more children, two girls and another son. Records also tell of a Richard Osborn of New Haven as a brother of Thomas ...”

Here is the Descending line:
John Osborne
Richard Osborne I m. Elizabeth Flydane/ or Flydene
Richard Osborne II m. Jane Broughton
Thomas Osborne m. Joan Wyborne
Thomas Osborne m. Mary Goatley
children:
1. Thomas 2. Richard died very young 3. John, Stephen, Joseph, Rebecca, Increase, Benjamin.

I descend down Stephen's line and so does the descendants of Jeremiah Osborne who married Mary Newman, he was born 1729.
John married Mariam Rebecca Hand and their descendants are all over the internet!
I met a descendant of Jeremiah Osborn who is in Texas, really very nice!, Richard about the age of 6 months old, Stephen b. 1634 married Sarah Stansborough, Joseph b. 1636 married Pricilla Roberts (see the book Captain John Cory and some of his descendants. Not much on Rebecca or Increase Osborne. Benjamine Osborne married Abigale Talmage. When doing research you will have to be careful with the names because some of them cross over into one of the other brother's descendants! Like Benjamine is married to Abigale Talmage, but the name Talmage also is in one of the brother's line. The name Hedges is in Benjamin's line and also in John's line. Mary Bennett I believe is another one that crosses over. Joseph's line is the Captain Cory line it is a nice thick red book. john's line is the "Osborne and Alley Families" book by Rita Sutton. You can also check the Virginia Magazines for the New York, Virginia Elizabeth Town areas. Long Island New York , and Ashford Kent England is where our family came from.

I hate to see profile merging! The problem with it is that you might get it from someone that copied someone else's file. What about errors? Or the fact they might have made some errors and passed them on to a lot of other people! It gets ugly at that point! I see people telling me that they descend from the Duke of Leeds when in reality they DON'T! We are a cousin to the Duke of Leeds, but we are NOT a DIRECT descendant! I knew a girl that descends from John Osborne and Mariam Rebecca Hand and she was telling me this incredible story as to how she descends from him! OH BROTHER! She is a distant cousin to me, But also a distant cousin to the Duke of Leeds.

Kay Osborn Very helpful information, thank you.

As a Geni volunteer curator, I can help resolve discrepancies and make Master Profiles, which represent “as best we know right now.” (DNA studies, especially Y DNA studies, have been making an impact into that.).

geni’s model is a collaborative tree with everyone working upward from themselves, so merging is an inevitable result. The more we can show the facts transparently in the profiles with sources and citations and narrative, the easier it is to maintain quality.

This is our goal: https://wiki.geni.com/index.php/Master_Profile

Sometimes we get there, sometimes it’s still in progress, everyone welcome to help build.

Osborn’s can be a hair ball as you know much better than I do, and I’m one person. Aside from merging the unattended to profiles, I’ll focus on the tree top in England, as it bothers me to present false relationships to “nobility.”

Do you have a link to a good external site with citations we can use as a guide?
