Found in National Genealogical Society Quarterly, (Dec. 1938), XXVI, 133-134, from "Jones Family Lines" that Peter Jones, born 1599 in Wales, died 1662 in Henrico County, Virginia came to Virginia in 1623 and was Deputy Clerk of Henrico County, Virginia. In 1676 he commanded fifty-seven men from Elizabeth City County, and served as a major and colonel in the colonial wars in Virginia. He married Margaret, daughter of General Abram Wood.
