To this Margaret Stewart.
A comment from an observant member:
Hello, FYI there is a small epidemic of falsely named portraits circulating on the net and the current photo attached to your Margaret Stewart evidence is pointing to this as incorrect with no sources I can find to support it belonged to this Margaret Stewart, daughter of James IV and Margaret Drummond. People are sourcing this site, which is leading to wider distribution.
An image search on this picture shows a widely used affiliation of this exact pose with Mary, Queen of Scots. It does require validation, but see sources below as the evidence strongly points to belonging to Mary Queen of Scots: - https://www.recordedbooks.com/title-details/9781464000867 - Same lady in painting from this site sources her as "Portrait of Mary Stuart, Italianized into Maria Stuarda (Linlithgow, 1542-Fotheringhay, 1587), Queen of Scots. Painting by Henri Auguste Calixte Cesar Serrur (1794-1865), oil on canvas, 28x15 cm. Versailles, Château De Versailles
