James II in a court settlement with Dorothy in 1699 vows that he had nothing to do with Dorothy for the past 16 years. That would mean since 1683. If that is true and it is a court record well known to all, how could he and Dorothy be the father of Josias born 2-27-1688? I do have a copy of the Bible record stating that Dorothy and James II Born dec-18-1653. My other thing I doubt is the Birth date of James II of dec 18 1653. James I died June 8 1651.To be his child he could have been born no later that March of 1652? Any help would be appreciated. Has anyone every seen Josias Tombstone or know for sure that is his birth day. I really feel that he and William could be twins and Born in 1652 as William was and he was just christened later in 1653 dec 18. William his brother died shortly after birth and in 1652 and was Christened quickly. It is also unusual that James and Emaline had one son Peter 1650 before they were married and that they got married the day he died, so maybe he was on his death bed and she was pregnant and he wanted to give his children his name and make them legal.
