His biological father was not Nansemond, he was African. William's mother was Nansemond.

Correct

This is what his profile says.
The Bass husband of Elizabeth is not his father and he was not adopted. This is directly from Tanna Jo Bass and the Bass DNA Surname group.

Thanks Cynthia. The parents of William are a well known fact even though we do not know his African fathers name. William is the beginning of the rare A Hap group, A M31 V25 in the Bass family, all modern day members of the Nansemond tribe descend from him.

You're welcome, Bob Barris .

Tanna Jo stressed to me that she firmly believed HE was the source of MY Senegambian DNA and that I am one of his direct descendants. I always consulted her when I worked on a Bass profile or line. I miss her... but now I consult the records and follow the DNA. Those different Y Haplo groups tell us where to go. We all know the documents were meant to protect and to preserve and that has made it difficult for some, but not impossible :)

I look at these profiles as being a representation of the actual people and consider them family. I try to treat them with respect. Input is appreciated.

Thank you
