Alexander Stewart, Earl of Buchan, Alasdair Mór mac an Rígh, and called the Wolf of Badenoch (1343 – 20 June 1405)

But his tombstone has 1394

Stewart was buried in Dunkeld Cathedral with a handsome and somewhat defaced monument, with the description:
His Jacet Domninus Alexander Senescallus, Dominus De Badenoch, Bonæ Memorle, Qui Obit 24 Die Mensis Julii, Anno Domini 1394.[40]

Most articles state somewhere between 1405 and 1406. Some say 1394 but do not provide evidence. I would say his tombstone was probably made in 1394 and he died after that.

He was buried behind the high alter at Dunkeld Cathedral where his fine monument still stands.

Presumeably because of his sacking of Elgin Cathedral he was reviled by the clergy and his body was refused entry through the front door of Dunkeld Cathedral and had to be carried in through the back door and left behind the high alter screen out of sight of the parishoners whose lives he had so terrorised. [7, 8]

Alexander Stewart died in 1394 and he was then buried in Dunkeld Cathedral where his tomb, topped by a recumbent figure clad in armour can still be seen.

Some records state the The Wolf of Badenoch died in 1394, although others maintain is was in 1406, when it is believed that he played chess with the devil at Ruthven Castle.
