Hi Heather, I am glad you asked about the DNA tab. Most profiles have these tabs right after the main intro you can't miss the tabs. They are .Overview...Media...Timeline...Debates...Sources...Changes.....DNA
Click the DNA tab and then you will open a page that has three blue hyperlinks. The hyperlinks tell you to click to reveal people in the Geni database who should be close family Autosomal Matches.....Mitochondrial Matches and the third hyperlink is for Y-Chromosome DNA matches.
Every profile does not have matches under the hyperlink but it does not hurt to check.
If your DNA is uploaded to your profile on Geni you can match your DNA with theirs.
Of course some people opt out of this tool and that's their right to do so, and you can too. Opting out is one way you can remain Private. The matching is the fun part for me.
The pedigree tree path is based on information from millions of profiles that Geni super computer and the profile managers and curators manage and labor so hard to keep bad information out.
The hyperlinks show an actual DNA relationship.
Can some Geni pros correct me if I left out anything. The process if really complicated and I am just a novice. BLUF (bottom line up front) I always check the DNA tab and the hyperlinks).
Sometimes I see my name actually listed on a list. Now that is really kool.
