Does the About need correction or are the relationships in need of correction?

Third cousin fourteen times removed? Or, even more obscure " daughter's husband's 12th great grandfather?" Why is this even a thing?
Edward Howell, Gent. is one of my 9th ggrandfathers and I can't see the significance.

Private User did you bother to look at the About statement?
This is about having a correct genealogy for the man as well as having the About match the profile.
If it is accurate, the tree is wrong. If it is not correct, the About needs corrected.

I am a direct from each but THEY are not showing as direct to/from each other and THAT is the question.

I need a curator please :)

re: I am a direct from each but THEY are not showing as direct to/from each other and THAT is the question.

That doesn’t help me help you, and I’m not sure that’s the best way to error trap, in any event.

When I question a relationship, I go through it, step by step, using an external site to validate. Particularly on what hopefully are entirely locked profiles in this ascendancy.

Then, if you find something, post what you think is the problem, that profile link and the suggested solution.

Typically when a profile says or I see a statement somewhere that an individual is "descended from" or "closely related to", I like to check the relationship...
I have corrected a handful of profiles using public sources and some of these are historical but a Magna Carte Surety Baron is way removed from what I am comfortable tweaking the tree.

I ran the pushpin from him to the surety baron and see that a relative of his IS showing as a direct descendant and that is why I added that relationship path.

These are both curated profiles.
I was hoping someone could verify the About statement.
It is simply an aside or By The Way that I am showing descended from both of these men per their profiles pushpinned to me but I do not see the relationship pushpin between them linking them as ancestral grandfather/grandson

The Geni poster commented he "can't see the significance".
This is the significance
Not MY and neither his relationship path
:)

Do I have the correct profile for Magna Carta Surety Baron Robert de Vere ?

"ALICE DORMER, daughter by her father’s 2nd marriage. She married THOMAS CROCKER (or CROKER), of Faringdon, Berkshire. They had one son, John, Esq. Thomas was presumably closely related to Richard Crocker, of Faringdon, Berkshire, Merchant of the Staple of Calais, who left a will dated 8 March 1519, proved 14 March 1519, naming his wife, Ellen, but no children (P.C.C. 27 Ayloffe).

"[Note: In 1570 John Dormer, of Steeple Barton, Oxfordshire, younger son of Sir Michael Dormer, Mayor of London above, stated in a letter that he had spoken with his “Cousin Croker” about a potential land sale. “Cousin Croker” is doubtless Sir Gerard Crocker, also of Steeple Barton, Oxfordshire, who was the grandson of Alice Dormer, wife of Thomas Crocker above [References: Shakespeare Centre Library and Archive: Archer of Tanworth, DR 37/2/Box 87/8, DR 37/2/Box 87/9; abstract of documents available online at http://www.a2a.org.uk/search/index.asp; see also Lee Hist., Description & Antiquities of …Thame (1883): 504– 516 (Dormer pedigree); Stapleton Three Oxfordshire Parishes: Hist. of Kidlington, Yarnton & Begbroke (Oxford Hist. In 1587 John Crocker, of Steeple Barton, Oxfordshire, son and heir of Sir Gerard Crocker, conveyed a one-fifth part of the manor of Kidlington, Oxfordshire to Brasenose College, Oxford. Joining him in the conveyance were his cousin, Michael Dormer, of Hampton Poyle, Oxfordshire, son of Ambrose Dormer, and grandson of Sir Michael Dormer, Mayor of London above; Edward Hawten, of the Lea (husband of his aunt, Margery Crocker); and John Bonner, of Swarford (husband of his aunt, Margaret Crocker)."[1]

Erica Howton does the About note need correction? Do the Magna Carte people say this or the Howell people?
He is not showing as direct at Geni.

Moving on

Cynthia Curtis, A183502, US7875087 - the about is fine. You need to find the profile (s) that’s missing in your connection.

Alice Croker was fixed.

Erica Howton I am NOT looking for someone missing.
I am just passing through and saw the incongruency of the statement.
Someone decided he was a direct descendant

Looking---

Ahhh! It must not have synched when I checked??????
I am just always "happy" when the ABout and the profile match and esoecially when a relationship is documented.

Thank you so much, Erica Howton

Forgive the typos--- hunt/pecking with cold hands :/

Above is path at Wikitree for them:
Wikitree shows 12th but I trust your work

Robert de Vere, 3rd Earl of Oxford, Surety of the Magna Carta is Edward Howell, Gent.'s 11th great grandfather.

Edward Howell, Gent.
→ Margaret Howell (Hawten)
his mother → Margery Hawten (Croker)
her mother → John Crocker, Esq.
her father → Alice Croker (Dormer)
his mother → Alice Dormer (Collingridge)
her mother → Alice Collingridge (FitzAlan)
her mother → Ranulph FitzAlan of Arundel
her father → Richard Fitzalan, 3rd Earl of Arundel, 8th Earl of Surrey
his father → Alice de Warenne, Countess of Arundel
his mother → Joan de Vere
her mother → Robert de Vere, 5th Earl of Oxford
her father → Hugh de Vere, 4th Earl of Oxford
his father → Robert de Vere, 3rd Earl of Oxford, Surety of the Magna Carta
his father

He was not showing as direct here before and now he does.
Thank you for taking the time to do this and for clarifying for me

[]Cynthia Curtis, A183502, US7875087 - please don’t trust my work, it was certainly an error that Alice Croker was not connected. But the error needs to be defined for me specifically, because people may have different pathways to the same place. And vetting a dozen generations is not a task I happily take on.

Understood :)
