Looking to confirm parents for Laomedon Tucker

Curious WHY folks insist she is a daughter of Bartholomew Allerton, Mayflower passenger?

She appears as a duplicate of Rosanna Newton

Incorrect. I’ll merge into the Master Profile and lock relationships so she can’t be wrongly added again. See the MPs for explanations.

I don’t know who Thomas Tucker married. The mistake about Rose Allerton is about JOHN Tucker.

John Tucker, Sr.

Notes

From Working Gedcom of Melissa Thompson Alexander

Linda Reno says she died after 1696 and married first, William Tucker, Jr. and 2nd Thomas Daynes. . Linda goes on to say that Mary/Marie (Stone) Tucker, relict of William Tucker of Warwick, VA on 24 Jun 1653 made a marriage contract with Thomas Daynes. This contract was recorded in Latin 4 July 1653-4 and in English on 13 Dec 1653 and recorded in Norfolk Co, VA on 15 Apr 1656, In the contract Marie testified that her former husband, William Tucker had left two monor children in her care; John Tucker, a child by Williams former wife and Roger Tucker, which was a child by Marie.

From Re: John Tucker/Rose Allerton Date: February 01, 2001

"Brian: Unfortunately, the information posted on the Allerton forum about John Tucker and Rose Allerton is incorrect.

John Tucker and Isaac Allerton Jr. (1628-1702) were contemporaries and John Tucker died (1671) before any of Isaac Allerton's children had married.

John Tucker's (c1630-1671) wife was Rose Sturman (aft1635-1712) who later married Dr. Thomas Gerrard and John Newton Sr.

John Newton Jr., who became Rose's step-son in 1676, married an Allerton and this appears to be the source of the Tucker/Allerton error which has been widely disseminated".

NB. Rose was not a Sturman either. She’s unknown.

However, Thomas Tucker is named in the Will of Capt. William Tucker, of Kiccowtan

Thomas Tucker (c1620-1677) and Edy Hentinge of Norfolk Co., VA. Thomas came to VA in 1635 under "contract" to Capt. William Tucker of Elizabeth City., VA. Although some have interpreted the term "contract" to mean indenture, I think it more likely meant that Thomas Tucker, then a teenager, was sent to VA by his parents to live under the care and instruction of Capt. William Tucker. I suspect, but can not prove, that Thomas was likely the son of William Tucker's older brother, Thomas, who lived in London.

Thomas Tucker of London, older brother of Capt. William Tucker. It is known that Thomas had daughters Alice bc1616 (named after his mother, Alice Pelham) and Memory bc1623 as well as a son named Thomas Jr b1614. All three may have ended up in VA. Memory Tucker may have been the Memory Tucker who married John Southern who was an immediate neighbor of Capt. William Tucker at Kiccotan. Thomas Jr. may have been the "indentured servant" who came to VA in 1635 on the Globe and subsequently lived with Capt. William Tucker before marrying Edy Hentinge in 1640 and settling in Norfolk Co.

Keep in mind that circumstantial evidence is all that links Alice Tucker with Memory, Thomas jr. and Thomas Sr. of London. However, brides were hard to find in the early decades of the Virginia colony and "arranged" or "contract" marriages with the English kin of VA planters were among the solutions to the shortage.

Children of Thomas Tucker and Edy Hentige are:

  • i. Thomas Tucker, Jr., married Elizabeth

I'll add these children to Thomas and Edy since only Robert is attached but what should this say? It repeats wife number 1 skips #2 and repaets #1 as #3

It's a typo I think--- https://www.ancestry.com/mediaui-viewer/tree/1118453/person/2411598... will correct.

Thank you!
With a name like Laomedon, it is difficult to accept we can't find his parents. I wonder if there is a Y study for him
