Aaron Quarles (1702-1771) lived at the family plantation in King William Co., Virginia. The son of John Quarles and wife Jane Mallory, Aaron married Ann Catherine Tunstall. He moved his family to Kentucky c.1790, settling in Woodford County.

There is considerable data on this family available in the Library of Virginia. Their collection includes descendants of the Quarles family, primarily focusing on the branch of the family of Nathaniel Quarles (d. 1767), of Manchester (Chesterfield County, which was annexed to the city of Richmond, Virginia, in 1910) and King William County, Virginia; however, there is some material relating to another Nathaniel Quarles (d. ca. 1783), also of the area of Chesterfield Countyd (now South Richmond) and Prince William County, Virginia. The latter Nathaniel Quarles (d. ca. 1783) was the son of John and Susannah Quarles, and he fought in the Revolutionary War, dying shortly after the war was over. Contains typed transcripts of wills (some with slave records), deeds and other court records, letters, genealogical notes and an inventory of the Quarles family; also included are typed transcripts and ms. extracts of deeds on Nathaniel Quarles's (d. 1816) eldest daughter Elizabeth Tunstall (Quarles) Hewlett (fl. 1808) and her husband Richard Hewlett (fl. 1808). The abstracts of deeds were filed in Augusta, Chesterfield, Culpeper and Fauquier Counties, Virginia and the abstracts and copies of wills were filed in Chesterfield, Fauquier and King William Counties, Virginia.

In the Name of God Amen.
I Aaron Quarles of the parish of Saint John in the County of King William being sick and weak but in perfect memory do make this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following IMPRIMIS first my will and desire is that all my just debts and funeral expenses be paid
- Item I give to my sons James Quarles and his Heirs for ever five pounds current money
- Item I give to my wife one ffeather bed and ffurniture one bay Mare called Fane two Cowes and Calves two ewes and Lambs one sow and two pigs half a dozen plates I also Lend my wife two Negroes during her natural life and after her decease to be sold for the use of my estate. The negroes I lend my wife is named Stepney and Violet.
- Item I give to my son Tunstall Quarles my megroe Boy named Herculas to him and his Heirs forever
- Item I give to my daughter Catherine Quarles and her Heirs forever one Negroe Boy named Lewis
- Item I give to my Grandson Aaron Quarles Starke and his Heirs forever one Negroe Boy named Mark
- Item I give all the remainder of my estate to be equally divided between all the rest of my children vize.----Anne Isbell, Aaron Quarles, John Quarles, Nathaniel Quarles, Jane Stanhope, Barbary Starke, Tunstall Quarles and Catherine Quarles to them and their Heirs forever.
Lastly I appoint Joseph Ffox Bartholonew Dandridge and John Quarles, junr. Depy. Clerk to be executors of this my last Will, revoking all former Wills by me made In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this ninetheenth day of December one thousand seven hundred and sixty seven Aaron Quarles.

This will was proved at London before the Right Worshipful George Hay Doctor of Laws and Master Keeper or Commissary of the Prerogative Court of Canterbury lawfully constituted on the twenty third day of December in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and seventy one by the oath of John Quarles the younger, one of the executors named in the will to whom administration was granted to all and singular goods and chattels and credits of the deceased having been first sworn by commission duly to administer power reserved of making the like grant to Joseph Ffox and Bartholonew Dandreidge the other executors named in the said will when they or either of them shall apply for the same.
