Per Karl Britz: the family moved to Karlsruhe in 1895, where Adolf's father's company - "Josef Wertheimer and son - agencies, sugar, confectionery and tea wholesalers" was located. in 1916 Josef Wertheimer died
on October 22, 1940 Adolf was deported to Gurs with 900 other Jews from Karlsruhe. In the spring of 1941 together with other old and sick Jews, he was transferred to the Recebedou internment camp, where he died in the infirmary on Feb 13, 1942
