Death

Alexander Dalrymple of Woodhead died on 1 November 1796 [John Fowler Mitchell, C.I.E. & Shiela Mitchell, Dunbartonshire Monumental Inscription pre 1855 (Scottish Genealogy Society, 1998), Auld Aisle Cemetery, inscription number 201-04] According to the notice published by the Edinburgh Magazine, he died in Kirkintilloch in his eightieth year [The Edinburgh Magazine, or Literary Miscellany, for July 1796 (Murray & Highley, London, 1797) Volume VIII, New Series, page 482]

His Testament Dative and Inventory

The Testament dative and inventory of the deceased Alexander Dalrymple of Woodhead was given up by "Alexander Dalrymple now of Woodhead son of the said defunct and executor dative and nearest in kin decerned to him by the Commissary depute of Glasgow as an decreit dative pronounced thereanent upon the twenty second day of December seventeen hundred and ninety six years in itself fully bears". William Gray, portioner of Wester Gartshore acted himself as cautioner for Alexander Dalrymple, now of Woodhead, and confirmation was granted to him on 4 January 1797.
