Aleksander Schneider ( 1881 Tartu - February 11, 1979 Vaasa ) was an Estonian weightlifter and wrestler, world champion in weightlifting in 1906 in Kyiv . Club: until 1907 Petersburg Kalev, after the World War Nõmme Kalju, founding member in both.

At the Russian weightlifting championships on March 13-15 , 1905 in St. Petersburg, Estonians won a triple victory: 1. Eduard Gross , 2. Voldemar Seeberg and 3. Aleksander Schneider. There were three exercises in the plan, which were performed with the right, left and both hands.
Aleksander Schneider repeatedly set world records in weightlifting. In 1907, at the invitation of Georg Lurich , he became a professional wrestler and successfully competed in many tournaments. His bridge was famous. He returned to Estonia in 1920 and wrestled professionally in Tallinn in 1934 .
During World War II, he emigrated to Sweden .
