"Ann Gerrie married Alexander Watt at Inverurie, a town in Aberdeenshire on the north-east coast of Scotland. On 23 March 1859, just 15 days later, the newly married pair boarded the Queen of the Avon for New Zealand. The couple settled at Whanganui in the Manawatū-Whanganui region of New Zealand five years before the outbreak of conflict during the New Zealand Wars. Ann was my third great grandmother."
