First of all, I must say that I am using someone elses work. But I have studied that work and to the best of my knowledge it is fairly accurate.Dates and records are very hard to establish for this time period as you well know. After reviewing my Ann Pierpont's lineage and Francis H. Pierpont's lineage it should go as follows.
Francis Harrison Pierpont b. 1/25/1814 (Francis b. 1784, John b. 1738, Francis Jr. b. 1717, Francis b. 1680, Henry d. 1681).
Ann Pierpont b. ABT. 1754 m. James MaClelland/McClelland (John b. 1703, Francis b. ABT. 1680, Henry Pierpont d.1681).
So to the best of my ability I would say that the division of the John Pierponts (in regards to Francis H. Pierpont and Ann) was with Francis Jr. b. 1717 and John b. 1703.
It looks to me like they were brothers and Francis Jr. Married Sarah Richardson and John married Ann Galloway.
It is interesting that Ann and James MacClelland had a son named Larkin,as well as James, Patrick and John.I can only assume that Ann named him after Henry Pierpont's wife Elizabeth Larkin, Charlestown, Suffolk, Ma.; Ann's Great Grandmother. Ann and James settled on the Forks of theCheat along with several other Pierponts of the same lineage. It was there that John Pierpont b. 1738 (nephew of John Pierpont, cousin to Ann) built Fort Pierpont.Francis H. Pierpont would have been his Grandson. Hope this answers your question.Dixie
