Touissant Baudry and Barbe Barbier
"Toussaint Beaudry must have been about 28 years old when he considered himself ready to set up a home. This would have been in 1670. He made the acquaintance of a girl of the country, the third child of a worthy family which counted 8 children: Barbe Barbier, daughter of Gilles Barbier dit LeMinime, and Catherine Delavaux. The Barbier family was one of the most respected in the town... Ville-Marie had been founded barely 12 years earlier when Barbe Barbier was born on 9 January 1654. The honor of presenting her for baptism at the church of Notre-Dame was reserved for Paul de Chomedey de Maisonneuve, founder of the town, and first governor of the island of Montreal, and Mathurine Gode, wife of Jacques Lemoine. The Jesuit Father Claude Pijart poured the baptismal water over the forehead of the little girl on the 15th of the same month."
"In 1670, it was this 16 year old girl who was courted by Toussaint Beaudry. On 16 November, they signed a marriage contract in the presence of Benigne Basset. Then on Monday, 24 November, Barbe and Toussaint, all dressed up, appeared at the church of Notre-Dame where the Sulpicien curate Gilles Perot, was waiting for them. Forming part of the gathering were Jean Gervaise, Francois Bailly dit Lafleur, Jean Bousquet, brother-in-law Etienne Trudeau, Jacques Lemoine, Mathurin Rouille and others."

"On 24 January 1694, Barbe Barbier brought into the world her last child, Simeon. The baptismal act for the youngest Beaudry mentioned that his mother died 3 hours after giving birth to him. Furthermore, she was buried on the same day she died in the presence of grieving family and friends..."
