Also as noted by Dennis Bailey "Another Place in Time"; [Dennis has John's pension papers and his "Military Bounty L and Warranty Grant"] (John) was awarded at the conclusion of the Revolution...to receive 4000 acres for his services in the Virginia Continental Line as a three year Captain. 2000 acres being in Lincoln Co, KY - later Knox Co, KY - later Harlan Co, KY; 1000 acres at Caney Fork at Indian Creek, surveyed in 1797, book 4, pg 587 which he sold to Eli Williams on Dec 6, 1798 [book 10, pg 123].1010 acres, Logan Co, KY on the Red River & Big Whipperwill, surveyed Feb 6, 1799 [book 7, pg 581].

John made his residence here on the Cumberland River beginning at the mouth of Pucketts Creek

John was a private in the Revolutionary War , he served in the Virginia Militia under Capt. Thomas Helm. he also has been proved by DAR. Records prove he was a private
