From 1730 to 1734, this colony, the parent of one in this country of Maury, to be mentioned presently, migrated to Williamsburg District, South Carolina, of which Kingstree is the county seat. Of those who came during the above period were teh following heads of families: James McClelland, William and Robert Wilson, James Bradley, William Frierson, John James, Roger Gordon, James Armstrong, Erwin, Stuart, McDonald, Dobbins, Blakely, Dickey and perhaps a few others. In the last named year, to wit, 1734, John Witherspoon, of the same family with the distinguished signer of the Declaration of Independence, born near Glasgow, Scotland, in 1670, and who had removed to County Down, Ireland, came to Williamsburg, bringing with him his four sons, David, James, Robert, and Gavin and his daughters, Jennet, Elizabeth and Mary and their husbands, John Fleming, William James (father of Major John James, of revolutionary memory and distinction) and David Wilson. All these colonists were from County Down, Ireland. They were all members of the Presbyterian Church or reared and indoctrinated in its faith.

By the mighty Power of God and as touching and Worldy estate wherein I have pleased God to bless me in this life I give bequest .. in the following manner and form I ... I give and Bequeath such Mary my dearly beloved wife, the disposal of all and singular my personal estate allowing her to nevertheless to pay the following legacies as they become due. Item 1

Item: I leave to my eldest daughter, Elizabeth, two hundrend and fifty pounds to be paid her immediately after my decease.

Item: I give and bequeast onto my next two daughters, that is to Sarah and Margaret two hundred and fifty pounds to each of them to which I appoint wit the hand of Hugh McGill till they come of age to be paid as above and if any of my children die before they come of maturity there respective share or shares went to the Surviving.

Item: I leave to my Granddaughter Mary a two year old heffer for her mother's part.

Item: I leave to my daughters Elizabeth and Sarah, a tract of one hundred acres of land on Boggey Swamp Butting and Bounding as the plot thereouts annex'd shows.

Item: I leave to my wife the land that I now live on during her life and thence to my daughters Margaret and Jean.

Item: I leave to my grandson Roger William one yearland horse rangin on the south side of Black River and to Roger McGill one yearland mare the ensuring spring also I also appoint the payment of all my just debts.

Item: I leave my youngest daughter Mary a grey two year old horse next spring to be disposed of for her use.

Item: I bequest onto my 3 sons, James, John, and Moses fifty pounds currency each if they can come here allowing negro Dick to be sold to assist in paying of the Legacies I like .. make constitute ordain and appoint Mary my dearly beloved wife Executix and Hugh McGill and Robert William Executors of this my last will and testament and leave a discretionary power to add to my three eldest daughters Legacy to each fifty pounds if they see execute by me in any way ... David Witherspoon and Robert Eisonll witnesses.

Note: Sarah married Hugh McGill had at least one child Roger; Margaret married Robert Wilson and had at least one grandson Roger.
