The parish register of Ellenhall, records his burial in July 1689 and records him as the son of Jonathan Cope esq and his wife Ann.

"Charles Cope ye son of Jonathan Cope Esq & Anna his wife was buryed ye [unclear] nth Day of July, 1689"
