2) Alonso de Rueda Rosales (b.1605 in Tunja; d. c.1681 in Vélez) married Margarita Sarmiento de Olivera (b.1607 in Vélez), the younger sister of Catalina, and they had at least five children: i. Cristóbal de Rueda Sarmiento ii. Marcela de Rueda Sarmiento, who married Luis Martínez de Ponte y Rueda (b.1639 in Spain) and had at least three children. iii. Bárbara de Rueda Sarmiento, who married the Spaniard Juan de Amaya y Villarroel and founded the Amaya family. iv. Nicolás de Rueda Sarmiento, who married his first cousin Gabriela Sarmiento y Cozar and had at least two children, Bernardo and Salvadora. Nicolás then married in 1693 Rosa Florencia Ortíz Gómez, the daughter of another first cousin, and they had at least Nicolás de Rueda y Ortíz (b.1695 in San Gil), who applied but failed to enter the Universidad del Rosario [Rosary University] in Santa Fé de Bogotá in 1714. v. Alonso de Rueda Sarmiento, a priest who died before his father.
