On 21 January 1675/76, Robert Ruffin "of the County of Surry" deeded to Thomas Giles of Nansemond County "my plantation on which my decd. father William Ruffin of Isle of Wight lived, except 200 acres which my decd. father made over to Katherine Thornton." This deed was witnessed by William Oldis and Edmond Prime, and consented to by Mrs. Elizabeth Ruffin.2

Indenture 8 June [1677] bet. Wm. Oldis of I. of W. and Robert Ruffin of Surry on one part, and John Smith of I. of W. on the other, for 100 acres of land, part of 2000 acres pat. to Oldis and Ruffin 21 Sept. 1674. Signed also by Jane Oldis and Elizabeth (X) Ruffin.3

William Oldis of Nansemond and Robert Ruffin and Eliz. his wife of Surry sell to Maj. George Nosworthy of Nansemond 1,250 acres [in Isle of Wight County]. 9 Aug. 1678. John White, John (X) Clarke.4

Elizabeth Ruffin was mentioned in her husband Robert Ruffin's will dated 8 May 1693 in Surry County. She had instructions to bestow portions on his daughters as they come to age or are married.1

Elizabeth Ruffin made her will on 29 July 1711. She left legacies to her unmarried daughter Jane Ruffin who she made executrix, and to her sons William Ruffin and Robert Ruffin.1
