Birth: Jan. 2, 1821 Breckinridge County Kentucky, USA Death: Nov. 19, 1847 Salem Marion County Oregon, USA
Parents: Henry Peckenpaugh and Jane Rebecca Arms. Jane Rebecca Arms Peckenpaugh married Joseph Logan after Henry's death; she died 21 July 1881 in Prairie City, Jasper Co., Iowa. She was born 14 Jun 1793 in Richmond, Henrico, Virginia.
Elizabeth married Commodore Stephen Decatur Rose on 7 March 1839 in Rushville, Schuyler Co., Illinois.
When Elizabeth and her husband arrived in Oregon in 1847 by way of the Oregon Trail, it was not yet a state, but the Oregon Territory.
Elizabeth Peckenpaugh Rose and baby daughter Loiza Rose died shortly after arriving and are buried in the Claggett Cemetery, originally known as the Smith Cemetery, location is today's Keizer, Marion Co, Oregon, area. The area was known as Chemawa in pioneer days and this location label was used in maps and ducuments until much after 1900, due to the Indians living in the area. Part of the original Indian school is still there.
