A family history book by Evelyn Yates Carpenter 1989 stated that Sarah was John Yates' second wife and the widow of John Price whose will was probated in 1772. Documents copied and/or transcribed within that book provide supporting information:

• In a 1793 deed, Sarah Yates, along with Betsey Price (wife of Mathew Price), was named as relinquishing her rights of dower to property formerly belonging to John Price and being sold by Mathew Price. https://www.familysearch.org/library/books/viewer/34979/?offset=#pa...
