About Genl. Jacobus Philippus Snyman

General Jacobus Philippus Snyman [Koos Hamerkop], Native Commissioner and Commissioner of the Marico district (*29.01.1838 Marico district) (≈21.03.1840) farmed in the Marico district of the Transvaal and led its commando in the Anglo-Boer War. He began the war as Commandant of the Zeerust Boer Commando on the Tvl. Western front. Boer General in command of the Rustenburg and Marico burghers during which he took command from Genl. Piet Cronje at the Siege of Mafeking from November 1899 to May 1900 (†19.12.1925 Doornhoek 32, District Marico, Witrand).
