Hawise Muscegros
b. 21 December 1276,
d. between 1340-1350
Hawise Muscegros was born on 21 December 1276 at Charlton Musgrove, Somerset, England. She was the daughter of Robert de Muscegros, Lord of Hampstead, Aldworth (in Berkshire), Brewham, Charlton Muscegros, Norton and Stowell (in Somerset), Boddington, English Bicknor and Kemerton (in Gloucestershire) by his unknown 1st wife, not his second wife Agnes de Ferrers. (See http://www.medievalgenealogy.org.uk/cp/ferrersofchartley.shtml#p324a)
She first married William de Mortimer, who died in 1297. She then received special dispensation to marry, between 1297-1300, his cousin Sir John de Ferrers, 1st Lord Ferrers (of Chartley), son of Robert de Ferrers, 6th Earl of Derby and Alianor de Bohun. He died c 1312. By 1315, she had remarried (and had her lands confiscated since she had married without the King's permission) John de Bures. According to Plantagenet Ancestry, she died between 1340 and her husband's death in 1350. [I am not certain of the source of the 1375 death provided by Richard Glanville, cited below].
- Richard Glanville-Brown, online <e-mail address>, Richard Glanville-Brown (RR 2, Milton, Ontario, Canada), downloaded 17 August 2005.says she died on 29 June 1375 at age 98 at London, England.
