About Jüri Väli (George Valley)

1887. aastal sündis Velise vallas Nurtu-Nõlva külas Aasa talus poeglaps, kellele pandi nimeks Jüri. Kooliteed alustas Jüri Väli Velise kihelkonnakoolis ja jätkas õpinguid Järvakandi ministeeriumikoolis. 1905.-1907. aasta revolutsioonist osavõtu pä-rast pidi ta põgenema USAsse. Seal jätkas ta õpinguid kõrgkoolides. 1926. aastal sai Jüri Väli (George Valley) mikrobioloogia alal doktorikraadi. Ta töötas professorina Yale’i ja Clevelandi ülikoolis ning kujunes üle maailma tuntud bakterioloogiks. ( http://www.velise.ee/artiklid/83.html )
