Jackie Mason (born Yacov Moshe Maza, on 9 June 1931, in Sheboygan, Wisconsin) is an American stand-up comedian. When Jackie Mason was five years old his family moved to the Lower East Side of Manhattan, New York. Jackie came from a long line of Rabbi's, his father was one, his grandfather, his great-grandfather, and even his great-great-grandfather were all rabbis.

"Maza", is a rare Jewish surname (pronounced as Mi-Zera-Aaron-ha-Cohen, which means "comes from the seed of Aaron the First priest)

His father was, ‎הרב אליהו מרדכי הכהן מזאה - R. Elijah Mordecai ha-Kohen Maza (1896-1954) came to the United States in 1926 from Minsk. An erudite scholar and gifted speaker he wrote and published many works in Hebrew and Yiddish dealing with the moral and ethical problems of American Jewry.

Jackie was ordained at the age of 25, as were his three brothers, Joseph, Bernard, Gabriel, and held a pulpit in Latrobe, Pennsylvania. Three years later he resigned to become a comedian.

In 1992, Mason won an Emmy for his voice-over of Rabbi Hyman Krustofski in The Simpsons episode "Like Father, Like Clown" making him the first guest star to win an Emmy for his role.

In a 2005 poll to find the Comedian's Comedian, Mason was voted among the top-50 comedy acts ever by fellow comedians and comedy insiders.

He was also ranked #63 in Comedy Central Presents: 100 Greatest Stand-Ups of All Time.

Jackie Mason completed a full length motion picture One Angry Man for release in 2009.
