Minister of Little River of Broad River Baptist Church

: Little River of Broad Church molly692 (View posts) Posted: 15 Aug 2007 06:23AM Classification: Query The Little River of Broad River Church was founded/first minister my husband's ancestor Jacob Gibson. He was from Virginia and married to Judith Napier, d/o Robert Napier and Mary Hughes. Jacob was born an Aglican, but baptised early by the Reverends Marshall and Mulkey according to Morgan Edwards, who wrote some on this and other Baptist churches established in the infancy of Baptists in the south. I believe at one time the early minutes of the church was on this website. Jacob Gibson died in 1793 in Fairfield Dist., SC. I am not sure who the minister was after that but also early was Rev. Marshall McGraw. It appears that Gibson traveled south from Va. with John Kennerly, Solomon McGraw and others from early deeds there.
