About Jacobus Marthinus Le Grange

Grew up in an orphanage in Bloemfontein, and had to milk the cows in the morning which he didn't enjoy.

Was a soldier who fought in WWII, never liked to wear his helmet, and was hit with shrapnel in both inner thighs when trying to warn the Tank that the enemy had planted shrapnel down the Tanks Barrel.

After the war he worked and helped with the building of the railways in Bloemfontein, he also used to smoke a pipe.

He loved to brew his own Beer, make his own Biltong, and grow Tangerines/Nartjie's in the garden.

He passed away after having suffered from another stroke.

The picture is of him (Oupa Koos Le Grange), Ouma Myra (Coetsee) Le Grange, and Tannie Dalene (Le Grange) De Klerk.

Note:

I am searching for the connection between my Oupa Koos (Jacobus Marthinus Le Grange) and his Biological Parents and Grandparents.

The only clues that I have are his mothers initials were M.E.M.S, and her maiden name was Henning. The only person to have matched this description, I found on the following website; http://www.henning.org/CD/keuselys/default.htm.

This Magdalena Elizabeth Martina Stoffelina Henning was said to have married a Benjamin Van Der Westhuizen. No further information is provided, however.

Assuming I found the correct couple, and considering their timeline to be roughly at the time when my Oupa Koos' parents would have been born, I then used their Parents as a starting point.

However, getting nowhere in my searches, not even being able to locate my Grandfathers sister, whom he mentioned, but only that he had one, he never mentioned her name. I decided to use a very long process of elimination by starting with the stamvaders Van Der Westhuizen and Henning and working my way down until I am left with a few possible options.

The reason for connecting my tree, currently, to that of Johannes Benjamin Van Der Westhuizen is merely because he is almost the splitting image of my Grandfather, and his son fits the possible timeline of when my Oupa Koos' parents would have been born.

Doing all this work is as a result of being unable to locate or verify the legal papers which showed my Oupa Koos and his sister being put into an Orphanage in Bloemfontein, South Africa. Their last names were changed to Le Grange, the last name of the woman who worked at the Orphanage, and though I believe my Oupa Koos may have mentioned his sister returning to their biological parents, he never did. Though he did recall an encounter with his father at a very young age.

Tracing the trees on Geni I happened upon someone who was related to King Edward II of England. Geni mentioned a connection to the Roets family line, which eventually connects to the Van Der Westhuizen family line. It was in following King Edward II of England's family line that I found the following information below. I am completely uncertain if all the information is correct, but it is still interesting.

Edward II, king of England http://familypedia.wikia.com/wiki/Descendants_of_Charlemagne http://familypedia.wikia.com/wiki/Bartherus_der_Franken_(aft171-272) http://familypedia.wikia.com/wiki/Clodomir_I_der_West-Franken_(c3-) https://www.genealogieonline.nl/stamboom-van-vugt/I12305.php https://www.genealogieonline.nl/stamboom-van-vugt/I13128.php

If anyone is able to contact me and verify any information mentioned in the note above, I would be most grateful, thank you!
