About Joanna Lamb
Joanna (___) Lamb, seen as being born Joanna Chapin, was born c. 1631 probably in Massachusetts.
She is not the daughter of Thomas Chapin and Bridget Hannaford of Paignton, Devon, England, despite many trees and publications stating so. Thomas died three years before Joanna was born, with Bridget remarrying and staying in England. Their four children are well documented and Joanna is not amongst them.
Joanna married John Lamb, seen 1651 or c. 1653, and they had ten children, all born in Springfield:
- John Lamb - b. 20 December 1653 - d. 13 July 1654 (d.y.)
- John AKA Job Lamb, b. c. 15 Mar 1655 - d. 5 June 1676 (twin to Thomas)
- Thomas Lamb - b. 15 March 1655 - d. 1734, m. Thankful Hill
- Joanna Lamb - b. 20 July 1657 - d. 8 August 1682, m. Samuel Wright Stebbins
- Sarah Lamb - b. 15 April 1660 - d. 15 February 1726, m. Jonathan Bush
- Samuel Lamb - b. 28 September 1663 - d. 5 December 1729, m. Rebecca Bird
- Daniel Lamb, b. 24 November 1666 - d. 8 March 1690/91, m. Elizabeth Atkinson
- Mary Lamb, b. 19 July 1669 - d. 6 September 1669
- Abigail Lamb, b. 20 September 1670 - d. 1720, m. James Lawton
- Joshua Lamb, b. 3 October 1674 - d. c. 1759
Detached the following as children of Joana and John Lamb, see reasoning here:
- Isaac Lamb, b. 10 July 1664 - d. 12 May 1723, m. Elizabeth Usher
- Ebenezer Lamb, b. 1666 - d. 21 June 1694, m. Mary Jeavett
- Elizabeth Lamb, b. 1670 - d. 1757, m. Daniel Longbottom
- Mary Esther Lamb, b. bef. 1665 - d. 1719, m. Daniel Walton
- John Lamb - b. 15 March 1654, m. Lydia Lamb, m. Mary Poole
- Son Lamb - b. 1658 - d. 5 Nov 1677
Joanna died 8 September 1683 in Springfield, Massachusetts. She is buried in Springfield Cemetery, Springfield.
John Lamb married second January 27, 1687/8 at Springfield Lydia (Wright) (Bliss) Norton widow of Lawarence Bliss and John Norton.[11]
John Lamb of Springfield ("who died Sept. 28. 1690") wrote his will September 27, 1690.[12] He mentions:
- sons: Thomas, Samuel, Daniel, Joshua
- daughter: Abigail
- son (in law): Jonathan Bush
His widow Lydia married Quartermaster George Colton.
