About John Churchill, of Wootton Glanville
John Churchill held the office of Deputy Registrar of Chancery before 1639.2 He lived at Minterne, Dorset, England.3 He was admitted to Middle Temple.

Churchill constructed for himself an impressive pedigree, but he was in fact the grandson of a Dorset copyholder. His father John Churchill studied law at the Middle Temple, and became deputy registrar of Chancery, in which capacity he acted as jackal, and later Judas, to Bacon.
During the Civil War John, who had resigned his Chancery post to his cousin (Sir) John Churchill, was active as commissioner of array, compounding for £440 in 1646 on property valued at £245 p.a. .4

John Churchill, eldest Son and Heir of Jasper, by Elizabeth Chaplet, was of the Society of the Middle-Temple, where, by his Proficiency in the Study of the Laws, he made an Addition to his Estate, and was seated at Mtntern in the County of Dorset. He married Sarah, Daughter and Co-heir of Sir Henry Winston, of Standiston, in the County of Gloucester, by Dionifi his Wife, Daughter and Co-heir of Sir Thomas Bond, Kt. and by her was Father of Sir Winston Churchill, born at Wotton-Glanville in the County of Dorset
