About John Denman, I
His death location is unproven. Although from Retford, Nottinghamshire, England -- he may have died in Holland. Eldest son, Humphrey, is proven to have resided in Holland, with the occupation church deacon.
Tickhill is a market town and civil parish in the City of Doncaster, South Yorkshire, England, close to the border with Nottinghamshire. John Denman of New Hall, Tickhill, Yorkshire, provided this pedigree for the Visitation in 1612...
Our John Denman (the American branch of the family) descends from the Ordsall and East Retford Denmans seen on the lower right side of the chart in yellow, specifically through Thomas (underlined in blue ink).
(See image: Information provided for clarity of the various branches, particularly the American line).
Please note that the Union Jack flag is inappropriate for this profile, since the flag was adopted later, in 1801.
Likewise, the Denman arms is inappropriate as well, since it was inherited by his half-uncle, Ralph Denman (son of Elizabeth Eyre and Nicholas Denman). I have removed the Denman arms from this profile, and added it to the appropriate profiles.

This is the earliest well documented Denman grandfather in our line. John married Judith
Stoughton: had a son John and a daughter before he died at an early age..
Judith married a Smead and had another son by him but Smead also died early.
When her first son John Denman was 14 Judith decided to join some of her family in New England but by that time the Crown was prohibiting any more imigration to New England.
To get around this Judith found a ship (the Dorset) which would take her from London to Barbados.although it was scheduled for Bermuda. and from there they caught a ship to Massachucets and Salem Colony. They arrived in 1635. John Flowers was the
Captain and his passenger list showed only 14 year old John Denman not Judith and the other children. It is presumed that this was because even though he was so young he was still considered head of household.
As a child he was a defendant with his mother in a chancery suit brought by the plaintiff Ann Mackworth.
At Whitsuntide in 1605 he was present at a nonconformist sermon in Sturton, Nottinghamshire which drew an audience from several parishes. Seven of the attendees were brought before the archdeacon's court where John Denman and his wife, of East Retford, admitted "that they were absent from theire owne parishe church upon the laste Saboath daye and there [Sturton] did here Mr Robinson a strainger preache who whether he was licensed sufficientlie or not theie knowe not."
By his first wife Anne Travers he was the father of a son Humphrey Denman of Amsterdam, Holland, as well as two daughters Bathsua and Elizabeth. By his second wife Judith Stoughton he was the father of John Denman of Newtown, Queens County, New York, as well as a daughter Mary, wife of Clement Maxfield of Dorchester, Suffolk County, Massachusetts.

Not sure if this fits in or how, but pretty interesting anyway:
