John Garrett, born about 1710 in Ireland and Dying 1790 aboard ship or shortly after coming to Pennsylvania, married to Margaret McMechen and father to Robert Garrett, Eleanor Hunter and others was NOT a son of William Garrett "the Quaker". The source for his biography is included with the Biography of his son, the well-known Merchant and Financier Robert Garrett of Baltimore. John's father was more likely a yet unidentified farmer or property owner in Ulster.
