- MAR #1: John's 1st wife in unknown, but children were born prior to his 2nd mar. The son Samuel, mentioned in a deed below, died in 1732, age 53, according to his gravestone inscription (Sybil Noyes, Charles Thornton Libby, and Walter Goodwin Davis, GENEALOGICAL DICTIONARY OF MAINE AND NEW HAMPSHIRE [Portland, ME, 1928-39; repr Baltimore, 1983], 372 [FHL #974 D2n]).
- MAR #2: Mar rec not found, but John was probably married to his 2nd wife, Abigail Ellins, shortly after a pre-nuptial agreement was made, 17 Oct 1685 (New Hampshire Province Deeds, 5:78 [FHL #015411]). She was the widow of Anthony Ellins of Portsmouth (Ibid, 5:103, 104 [FHL #015411]).
- DEATH: No death rec found. John was living in Portsmouth on 4 Jul 1719 when he sold land to his son Samuel (New Hampshire Province Deeds, 13:227 [FHL #015414]).
