He named his wife, Martha, & son, Elijah, executors. He gave to Martha a side saddle & bridle, two cows, ten sheep, two beds with furniture, & other personal items. Martha was also granted use of the New or West part of his dwelling house along with the back room & half the cellar as long as she remained his widow. She and no one else was to be allowed to collect firewood on his property up to 12 cords yearly(reflecting a scarcity of wood on his lands). Joseph CRANDALL SR granted to son, Jonathan, the South part of his homestead farm in Westerly containing about twenty acres. In addition, Jonathan received other lands with the provision that after his death, the lands were to go to Jonathan's sons. Phineas & Elijah CRANDALL were granted other lands as well as the salt marsh & buildings in Charlestown, RI. Daughter, Anna COON, was granted weaving tackle & other personal items. Sons, Phineas & Elijah, were to recieve all of Joseph's farming tools.
