In February 1765, Joseph Dugas, age unrecorded, came with wife Cécile Bergeron, age 30, and four children--Cécile, age 12, Joseph dit Cadet, age 10, Pélagie-Madeleine, called Madeleine, age 6, and infant Mathilde, who died in New Orleans soon after they reached the colony and was perhaps the first Acadian to die in Louisiana. Joseph, père died in the yellow fever epidemic of June-Nov 1765.
