About Laureano Flores
Laureano Flores was a Filipino revolutionary, landowner, and politician. In 1898, he was elected Negros Oriental delegate of treasury, taxes, and property of the Republic of Negros (Aldecoa-Rodriguez, 1986). He later served as presidente municipal of Dumaguete, Negros Oriental from 1909 to 1912. His daughter Hermenegilda, a suffragist and civic leader, was elected municipal councilor of Dumaguete in 1937, while his son Simeon served as mayor from May to August 1945. Flores Avenue in Dumaguete is named after him and his family (Peña-Reyes Makil, 2011).
